governessing and comic books
Mar. 6th, 2004 04:12 pmI'm at my parents' house, after helping my sister with Heart of Darkness, which I actually enjoyed - getting to analyze a book without the risk of anyone bringing up Marxism or turning discussion of the text into discussion of the politics, helps me remember why I chose my major in the first place. I still remember why I ended up hating said major, but at least I no longer want to travel back in time to bitch-slap my nineteen-year-old self around for making such a stupid decision.
And actually succeeding in making someone understand something better than they did before I got there is kind of nice too. Unfortunately, I've only managed this one-on-one. I don't think there's really much demand for governesses anymore...
( And then I visited Sequential Tart and discovered serious objections to the first two things I read there. )
On the other hand, this article, about anime hair colors, is actually more interesting and less infuriating than your average fansite. W00t.
