Ow.

So, last night, I got all energetic. My closet, always messy, was reaching critical mass - it contained, among many other things, the computer I replaced a year ago, and I tripped over it every time I went in to get a shirt. And the computer itself had some files I wanted - I thought I'd put everything I needed onto the new computer, or at least burned it to CD so I could get to it easily, but I was beginning to be aware that some things were missing.

So I hooked the old computer up to my monitor, and launched a frontal assault on my closet. During breaks from the closet campaign, I stuck things from the old computer in zip files, then began the agonizingly slow process of uploading them, so I could download them later. I mean, it's always slow on dialup, but it's even slower, by a small but noticeable margin, on that computer.

The battle of the closet isn't over yet - I've cleared out a box near the door containing things I hadn't unpacked since moving in here two years ago, but there are still pockets of resistance in the back. Plus I have all these refugees to deal with. See, with clothes, I tend to just toss the ones I don't wear on the floor, so that their hangers can be used for garments that actually contribute to society. This also means if you trip in the closet, you have something to break your fall. But it did make the cleaning thing harder, so now they're all... um, sitting in a heap in the middle of my bedroom floor.

Look, sometimes "cleaning" just makes things messier. It's the way the world works!

The pain has more to do with cutting my thumb last night while trying to cut vegetables than because of the cleaning stuff. There's also the fact I was up late (all the way till midnight) trying to finish a chunk of this... My life is so boring. This thing needs a warning label so you don't end up in comas inadvertently. Not that I'm going to bother putting in a cut or anything, I just felt like acknowledging it. And maybe inducing comas.
