Um, the prince in Suikoden V... is it just me, or is he a horrifying nightmare-beast? His LEGS ARE ON BACKWARDS. LOOK AT HIM. His hips rotate 360 degrees! He is the scion of the Lost Tribe of He-Man Action Figures, raised in secret among the Karaya and trained in combat by Nanami, preparing for the day that he would lead his people to glory!

And there's the Shounen Jump pirate along with more about the game. Both images snagged from Merc. Actually, if you discount Prince Jellobones, this looks pretty neat - the visuals are an obvious mix between the Karayan look, itself a blend of vaguely African and vaguely Native American visual, um... thingies, it's late, and the Asian-flavored environments of the first and (especially) the second game, and... God, I'm lost in this sentence. Chinese + (African x Indian) = visually interesting culture where PEOPLE'S LEGS ARE BACKWARDS. Let's just hope they don't talk this time and I'm there.

I also had a rambly, incoherent thing about the queen's headdress that concluded on a note of "Falena's full of hippies," but I thought better of it.

My GOD, maybe the prince is Torgo!

I'm going to bed.

I come from a part of the country that is not used to gas being over $3, so the streets were virtually abandoned when I was out earlier running errands and fighting with the postal service about Canada. I wish the thought process worked such that people would realize "wow, hurricane's affecting me indirectly, must donate money," but more likely they'll feel super extra broke because gas prices are up and decide against it. Sigh. I have to confess I may feel super extra broke, too - I drive an Echo, so spending $30 for gas will be an icky new experience.

One of the things that got me the most was when, in reading blog coverage about the hurricane, people would wonder how you could not have the means to evacuate. Well, how about not having a car? Or you have a car, but it's old and unreliable and you'd rather ride out the storm at home than on the shoulder of the interstate. Or you have a car but your whole family lives within New Orleans or not far from it (one thing you saw a lot was mention of how many multi-generational families there were; that people didn't move away from NO) so you can't crash with relatives, you'd have to rent a motel room and you can't afford that. I didn't see anything about shelters being set up for people in advance, about arrangements being made for the evacuation beforehand, and when that's the case it's not hard to be too poor to leave.

On a less serious note, I pwned Fire Emblem chapter 26 (a side chapter between storyline chapters 26 and 27). Needless to say, this involved fighting so defensively that I lost a tactical star - Marcus HATES my defensive fighting, as far as I can tell - but I don't care.
