(no subject)

This whole LJ/Facebook/Twitter thing is really bringing home to me that LJ thinks it's a different thing than I tend to think it is. I picked it up to be, kind of, a limited blog. I wasn't posting on LJ to make friends, and I wasn't posting to update people who actually knew me on my real life; it was to vent about stuff that real-life people were sick of hearing about, like my job, or to post things I emphatically did not want real-life people to see, like my fanfic. This is one of the problems with the current state of my LJ, which is read mostly by people I've met in real life.

LJ, meanwhile, thinks it's a social networking service.
