It's a real talent, look in the blood death knight blood tree, it's exactly as creepy as the name suggests.
Anyhow.
I like the way the early tiers of the talent trees have been reshuffled; Spiritual Focus (fondly known as "don't interrupt my heals, bitch" around here and very handy in leveling) is now first-tier, so you can get into your real spec by level 14. Anticipation turning into dodge will make the period between the 3.0 patch and the actual expansion release kind of tricky, but I trust the Wrath gear will be organized to allow for our lack of bonus defense. Or at least I don't plan to worry about it yet.
The 51-point talent - damage based on WEAPON damage - freaks me out. Our weapon damage is CRAP, currently. The fact that this is our 51-point talent makes me nervous as to what they're planning. Will I need to learn a completely new kind of itemization? I also worry about word of a block-value based threat ability; OH YAY ANOTHER STAT TO CARE ABOUT. I don't want to operate like warrior tanks! Who told them we wanted to be warrior tanks? The change to Salv is mildly annoying - even macroed it will be of limited use while I'm tanking, because it's essentially a way of casting Feign Death on someone else, and as everyone should know, feigning death is a real good way to convert your healer into kibble. The increase to base threat for Righteous Fury is troubling, because one of the Wowinsider posters was speculating it will let holy and ret palis tank. NO. NO! BAD BLIZZ, VERY VERY BAD. I do NOT want a guild to be able to plausibly say "you can spec holy for raids and still be able to tank five-mans!" On the other hand, if I could spec ret for leveling to 80 and still tank five-mans, that might be kind of nice. But weird. I feel naked when I'm not 49 points deep in prot.
Then again, our new guild on Cenarion Circle exploded in hilarious drama when the leader officially announced we're a casual raiding guild and we're not going to run your twink through things or explain how you feed your pet. Given the reaction to "you should be running instances or something," I seriously doubt they'll try to tell us how to spec anytime soon. (And they do have a solid core of active raiders; the discontented members may be loud but I don't think they're a majority.)
The Wrath info is making me interested in hunter-ing again. The available trees on Mania's Arcania have some interesting shuffling of pet families - most of my beloved-but-squishy flappy pets are in the utility tree, tallstriders are now in the dps tree (I also love striders - they may not fly, but they have wings, they're honorary flappies) and OMG MOTHS ARE TAMEABLE! Eeeee! Also I saw a comment indicating a pet more than five levels below you gets bumped up to 5 levels below you, and someone was speculating that we can now use all three stable slots since we no longer have to tame trash pets for skills. Also gorillas are tank pets, which fits perfectly with my plan for my new Cenarion Circle hunter.
If anyone needs me I'll be leveling like five more hunters. NEED MOAR PETS.
The new achievements system reminds me very much of LOTRO's deed system (where you could earn titles for killing quite a few of a certain type of mob, among other things, and could also earn improvements or adjustments to some class skills if you used them enough.) Blizz is unlikely to hand out the titles like cheap candy, but I can still hope. Plus there's supposedly a vanity pet achievement, which is right up my alley.
And while I was fiddling with inventory on Tanaris, I caught Corie online - she and Neil are playing on Dragonmaw now. Yay! Well, it's a pvp server, but I was glad to get to talk to her.
Anyhow.
