I need to go get my hair trimmed. I want to play my hobbit tank (rolled for a class meeting in LOTRO) a bit because I won't have time after today. I need to order thank-you notes and finish an internship application and clean and launder and pack. So I post, instead.
I've been rereading Song of Ice and Fire, slowly. This is not a book post, it's a "huh, Japanese book covers" post. Behold. Jon Snowe: Bishie, which amuses me tremendously. I'm curious if there's any interior art, but no real way to find out. Here's the full series gallery. I may or may not be planning a Ned Stark winamp skin. ASoIaF skins would come conveniently pre-titled, which is a plus.
I've been trying to steer clear of the bride blogs - they're just trainwreck syndrome at this point, and the ones I initially tried to milk for ideas all seem to say things like "It's hard to describe, but all of that love condensed into a 600 sq. ft backyard is a magical feeling!" and "[...] I felt content that we had indeed created a wonderful supportive village to usher in our public commitment of love and marriage." And then I hork into the trash can. (And these were the blogs I found while despair-googling things like "bridal pants" or "feminist wedding is an oxymoron" or "weddings are patriarchal bullshit." I begin to see why more reference-inclined librarians hiss and reach for weapons when people mention Google.) But I was in a very bad mood the other day - the cupcakes, the only part of This Ordeal that had so far been painless, suddenly became this whole huge deal - and decided to look for further rant fodder. I know, shocking, I have been so even-tempered and calm lately. Instead I found this wedding-cake topper. CELES IS MARRYING LEO. Or possibly Sabin or Edgar - they all have that color of eyes. (I know the sprites are edited. But the base was likely Leo and almost certainly not Locke. MWAHAHA.)
Though while I'm at it, the only wedding item that has ever made me go "OMG AWESOME." The FF6 cake topper above was just a "hey, nifty, I feel less warlike now."
OH LOOK FRESH RAGE. "Her wedding photos should completely shatter any final misconceptions that bridal pantsuits can't be just as floaty and femmey and positively gorgeous as a wedding gown." MAYBE SOME STRAIGHT WOMEN DON'T WANT TO BE FEMMEY, OKAY? MAYBE THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING FOR WOMEN'S FORMAL PANTS TO BE.
On a different FF6 note, or just a "lower my blood pressure to safe levels" note, here's FF6 in a Fullmetal Alchemist OP and ED, and in Ouran. I gather this is a running video meme in Japan, and it seems to be widely known on this Youtube thing all the youngsters like so much, but I only discovered it recently.
