It's trivial compared to so much of what's going on right now, but I am now in week 2 of what I call the "Cavalcade of Woe" which has involved:

- Sunburn, and acute foot pain, after a weekend at Disneyland
- A severe cold the husband and I shared, also courtesy of Disneyland
- An ear infection for me, with the result that I still cannot hear out of my right ear

- Eye strain for my husband, which due to a complicated series of events led to a shingles scare (usually shingles is only a problem for people twice his age) which, if close to the eyes, can lead to blindness. Luckily, he just needed new glasses.
- A roof leak that we thought had gone into remission instead metastasized; we're having to sleep in the living room because part of it is located directly over our bed, and we just discovered a fresh leak in the kitchen, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH
- One of the cats is secretly peeing on stuff, and we can't tell which one, or why
- My mother is coming to visit in about two and a half hours, and it is STILL RAINING, which makes having clean, dry sheets and towels for her a lot more of a challenge
- I have a group project due Monday, which would not be a huge issue for me, except that our group leader is one of those incredibly organized people who wants everything done a week before the deadline
- My computer's video card throws up every time I load anything more graphically taxing than Youtube
- Which is a problem, because we're supposed to be using this 3D animation crap for the aforementioned group project
- THE ROOF IS PEEING ON ALL OUR FURNITURE, I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THAT ENOUGH
- I am pretty sure that if it ever stops raining our house will spontaneously combust, JUST BECAUSE
- Los Angeles has a just plain godawful storm drainage system. Tulsa may not have ramen shops, dim sum, or the never-endingly hilarious parade of "medical marijuana" establishments, but at least they knew how to get water off the damn streets.
- And I'm turning 32. All this crap is happening for my birthday. Thanks, universe.

I should probably mention that my brother, once located in Japan, is back in the states now, and all of his wife's family were well out of reach of the earthquake and its aftermath.
