Normally, a chunk of last night's post would have been cut, but I wanted the WHOLE WORLD to suffer with me, and if I couldn't swing that I'd settle for all of you guys.
Feeling a bit better today. And ...I edited out the unsettled "this anonymous person knows too much about me!" stuff since the anonymous person turned out to be Merc. I probably ought to stop with the public overshares anyway, though.
....anyway! Nifty article about how language determines thought in at least one instance, a tribe whose language doesn't include numbers...
I really love Dahlia Lithwick. I always liked her writing in Slate anyway, but her NYT columns seem to cover a broader range of topics. This abstract would have cemented that, if nothing else - "There is probably nothing I can do or say to convince you that the words 'activist judge' have no more meaning than the words 'hectic smurlbats.'" Unfortunately, I managed to miss that one when the full text was available.
My Japanese class starts tonight - I probably ought to try to come up with something interesting about myself (other than "people I've never met know all about my cramps!") in case we have to do one of those agonizing introduction things.
