Mar. 5th, 2005 01:45 amI came home from work, slept for around three hours, woke at not quite 8 and thought "Muh? Why's it dark?" before remembering what time I'd fallen asleep in the first place. I'd managed a very involved dream which I seemed to think was a Dennis Lehane novel, involving people being falsely accused of serial murders and a neighbor being the actual culprit. Denzel Washington was in there somewhere, but playing a character, not actually being Denzel Washington.
Believe it or not, no cough syrup whatsoever is involved in all this.

Randomly, I read a lot of reviews of books and movies I haven't read/seen, and after running into the term "longeurs" twice in the past week, I now know what it means. And I think it's... revealing, about classics and contemporary literary fiction, that we actually have a loanword to politely convey the sentiment "that middle part is boring as shit. You can just skim, nothing happens." Which is more how we phrased it in classes. That, or we'd just start listing off the authors and poets upon whose graves we wished to spit.
That was my friends, not English department policy. For the record.
I wish I could figure out what's up with the tenth volume of Twelve Kingdoms. Greencine thinks it's out. Netflix thinks it won't be out until March 22. Amazon thinks it's out but it needs to be special-ordered and ought to arrive around March 22; but Amazon also thinks it's a 1968 movie, so its collective opinion should be taken with a grain of salt. I think Suncoast has it as already released. The obvious solution is for me to get it from Suncoast, but I hate the mall, their online store isn't marked down that much, and Amazon does have it marked down...
Currently I'm replaying FF6 on an emulator (since I have absolutely no other games to play! I really haven't beaten an RPG since the last .hack game) if by "playing" you mean "fiddling with the window configurations." One of my favorite things to do with this game is take the eighth window background - the one with the gaudy chocobo pattern - and fiddle with the colors until it's an unrecognizable abstract design. Other people try to beat games at ludicrously low levels, or collect all the weapons or get through without using magic - I just redecorate.
