I remembered Justice League Unlimited is on Saturdays, and caught the last five minutes or so. Um. Shapeshifting twins, one of whom turns into an animal and the other into a water form? And they're dumb enough to try to use the water form against Aquaman. That sure sounds like everything I've heard about the Wonder Twins, though I had no idea they were albino elves.

Samurai Champloo - "Yum! What kind of water is this?" ...solid proof that the writers have never tried to get someone who's never drunk before all liquored up. Choking and entertaining faces are more par for the course, and I can't imagine sake's any less of an acquired taste. (Not that I have attempted to get anyone else liquored up. But I remember early attempts at drinking. "Oishii~!" was not included.)

A brief history of my opinion of CLAMP. )

Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle - first volume, no spoilers )

A digression about sound effects and translation. )

Rurouni Kenshin volume 12 )

W Juliet - I got the second volume. Still indescribably cute. I like the freetalk where the mangaka speculates about Mako's leg hair.

Trigun Maximum - some spoilers through the third volume. )

I also bought Anne Bronte's Agnes Grey, a Douglas Coupland novel (Girlfriend in a Coma - I'd be lying if I claimed the title had nothing to do with my decision) and Murakami's Dance Dance Dance. The latter is the reason I bought the other two - I always feel kind of guilty when I buy a Japanese novel along with manga, as if I'm just obsessed with anything Japanese regardless of merit. When in fact the things I like about Japanese prose are very far removed from the things I like about manga. I can't exactly buttonhole bookstore clerks to explain, though. Not that they're likely to care...
