We went to see Superman Returns. It's nice to see James Marsden get to do something in a superhero movie again, you know? Also got to see the Spider-Man 3 trailer, which, um, he was definitely kissing Gwen Stacy, which seems kind of evilly appropriate given the way Mary Jane behaved with the fiance in the last movie. Also an ad for AX - I hope the Yuna cosplayer's boobs got some kind of compensation for being featured so prominently.

I liked the forties-ish flavor to the visuals - I mean the way the Daily Planet looked and the way people were dressed - paired with the camera phones and all. The kid was so cute, with the trashcan on his head and Clark's innate dorkiness and all, and then he's a BADASS PIANO-THROWING KILLER. That ruled. I liked what they did with the Richard/Lois relationship, especially the scene where they speculate that Clark could be Superman and then giggle over it, and that she didn't just ditch him for Superman first chance she got. And while the boyfriend insisted there was way too much earth-shaking going on to convey danger, I think he's just lost sight of the fact that rational people know that earthquakes are scary.

Oh, and the "I hope this doesn't put you off flying" PSA. And the syringe bending in the hospital.

Bryce Dallas Howard, who is lovely and amazing and far too fabulous to be in that age crowd, is playing Gwen Stacy. Which makes me wish that they would push MJ off a bridge (... again!) instead of her.
