irrelevance is funnier than relevance

....Star Trek replicators in an article about changing ideas on intellectual property and copyright. In the course of research for various classes this semester, I've also found a completely deadpan article about internet access for domestic animals with that "on the internet, no one knows you're a dog" cartoon as its epigraph, and another article casting the Microsoft Word paperclip in a remake of My Cousin Vinnie.

It's a lot more interesting than being an English major ever was.

I'm unfamiliar with My Cousin Vinnie, but the Microsoft Word paperclip is an infernal being who leers suggestively at me as I impotently struggle to disable him. In the end I break down and resort to addressing that hellish creature directly, asking, "how do I get rid of the damn paperclip?"

Well, the whole point of the article was how much computer help tends to suck, walking people through things without teaching them what they're doing, so... yes.
