Calculon LIIIIIIVES!
Granted, Calculon seems to have a case of retrograde amnesia - it does not recognize its newest and most spacious hard drive - but I guess that's just what I get for naming my computer after a soap-opera-star robot. The C drive is back online, my files are safe, and my files have also been copied over to my laptop as backup. Apparently, it was power-starved, which is way better than "the C drive is corrupted" as diagnoses go. Doesn't explain the amnesia, but I'm enjoying thinking of this as a soap opera plotline.
(Edited to add: I'm not UNCONCERNED about the fate of the newest hard drive, but I'm so freaking happy to have my school files safe that it's hard to get too worked up over it, and Erick's on the case anyway. Also, there has been other good news I just learned.)
