AT LAST

liri: (YAY!)
Thesis-Like Project is DONE! It's all approved and I'm due for my degree!
liri: (Default)
The group project situation resolved in one case; the other group project, that I hadn't been sparing much attention for, became problematic when we discovered that our professor is insane. But that's for a locked post.

In other news: SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

(Though I'll probably have to wait for DVDs, unless I can get it on iTunes. It's funny - just the other day I was wondering if this got picked up.)

I chose to celebrate officially reaching the age of "pushing 30" with a brand-new fangirl obsession. I'd sort of thought I was too old for those anymore, but apparently I just hadn't met the right imaginary guy. OMG BALTHIER SQUEE! Can we retroactively import him into previous Square and Squenix games to make those combat tutorials hot entertaining as well? Can he loan a shirt to Vaan so I won't have to look at Vaan's alarming abdominal muscles every time the camera wheels in the wrong direction? Because I seriously don't know what's going on around that boy's sternum but it really freaks me out.

There are so many things I love about this game - the bestiary! the notes on vendor trash! the fact this game uses words like "celerity" correctly! OMG BALTHIER! Everyone's-a-red-mage battle system! Ranged weapons are not the mark of a wussy caster chick! - but I'm apparently supposed to sleep, for some reason.

Stopped 10 hours in. SPOIL ME AND PERISH.

Last night's Old Hillsbrad run very effectively got the bad taste out of my mouth. We must run more things for leatherworking patterns! And go back to play the Thrall-kiting game some more. And I must level my shaman, who can solo same-level elites, w00t! (Soloed Nek'rosh. /dance!)

Also, SQUEEE FFIV CELTIC MOON IS ON ITUNES NOW!! It looks like many of the alternate FF soundtracks are, though since I own all the FFVI variants I don't need to worry about those.

Major life changes ahoy! Returned from Europe and before my sleep patterns are even straightened out it's time to start relocation maneuvers.

At the moment, I live in the Republic of Gilead an undisclosed location deep in the the sweltering, smelly armpit of the Bible Belt. If you've ever wondered where the hell I live, well, good. I keep the precise location vague less out of privacy concerns than out of deep shame; if you were from here, you wouldn't want to admit it either. (It's not Texas, though. It might as well be - high school and college football players are worshipped like jackassy young gods, for one thing - but it's not actually Texas.) After about a year and a half of exorbitant cell phone bills, I'm on the verge of moving to LA where I'll be living with [livejournal.com profile] flurf, [livejournal.com profile] omega13, and their cat. And my cat. Assuming my cat doesn't swallow his own tongue on the drive out there or something. Or the earth doesn't open up and swallow me within minutes of getting the last box inside the house. Earthquakes scare me. Actually, "scare" isn't the word. More like "the day the first earthquake happens is the day I buy a house somewhere comparatively safer, like the Ninth Ward in New Orleans, assuming I'm not BURIED UNDER TWELVE FEET OF RUBBLE." I am so going to miss tornadoes.

I'm going to need to come up with new names for the guys, or at least for the boyfriend. I refuse to refer to the boyfriend as "Flurf" unless I'm using his LJ name, and since he only updates his LJ when he's managed to come down with an exciting new disease there's not much point to directing people towards it. I may start calling him Nabeshin and throw things at him until he stops complaining.

Anyway, today I gave informal notice to my boss and secured the form to fill out to indicate I'll be out of my apartment. It's a relief but then I look at the chaos that is my apartment and I just want to play the Sims some more.

Europe trip was good, though I doubt I'll do a full rundown - I mean, it'd sort of be the LJ equivalent of vacation slides, right? The highlight, I think, was Coriolanus at the Globe, the lowlight was spending a mere two hours at the British Museum - they have the Rosetta Stone! I've wanted to go there since I was like eight! Agh! The boyfriend is going back with me, he's just not fully aware of it yet. At least I got to see some Akhenaten artifacts at the Louvre - for some reason he was always one of my favorite pharaohs. I was the kind of kid who had favorite pharaohs. You can see why I was so much more interested in museums than shopping on this trip.

And though I see Merc already heard, some of the rest of you may yet be unaware that THE TWELVE KINGDOMS NOVELS HAVE BEEN LICENSED OMG!! Also Scrapped Princess, it looks like. Ooh, And .hack//Another Birth - I knew about AI Buster but not Another Birth. Hopefully it's a little less awkwardly expository than AI Buster, which I flipped through but didn't buy because, well, awkwardly expository.

Next, license the Suiko novels and I'll seriously reclaim my hypothetical firstborn from Joss Whedon (for getting Serenity made, I think) and Neil Gaiman (just in case he wanted it for some reason) and whoever decided to license the Victorian Romance Emma manga and whoever decided to license Nana, and Ai Yazawa (for creating Nana) and... well, anyway, licensor of the Suiko novels gets a shot at the firstborn too. Or my soul. Whichever.

OMFG!!! Futurama returns! (Apparently as DVDs or a movie, as I'd heard rumored before. Still!) (Courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] flurf, aka "my boyfriend." No, I mean, he actually is, it's just I refer to him as either one or the other, not both at the same time.)

I guess it's just all the good stuff for this weekend gets crammed in during the last couple of hours when I'm supposed to already be asleep.

I'm sorely lacking Futurama icons, so I guess I know what I'll be doing instead of productive stuff or laundry tomorrow evening.

OMFG!

HOLY CRAP THE FF6 OST IS ON ITUNES!! $18! Damn, had I only known that, um, six or seven years ago... Nevermind, I would have bought the CDs anyway (split the price with my brother, I got to keep the liner notes, he burned me copies of the discs and kept the originals) but still! Cheap and clearly not Son May! The FFI soundtrack is like six bucks! (It, um, needs to be. It's the NES version.) THIS KICKS ASS.

Unfortunately, they've just got the core OSTs and some expanded versions for the new-school games. No Celtic Moon. Maybe someday.

ZOMG YES!!11!1 Lost Eyes shows signs of life! Well, sort of. They're needing copies of lost skins - the Shinji "Clouds" one is the only one I have in their still-missing list, but send things their way if you have any.

OMFG!!!!1!!!! SETZER OMG OMG OMG!!! (Link gacked from [livejournal.com profile] sarisa) I wish he wasn't stealing clothes from Miyazaki's Howl, but I DON'T CARE IT'S SETZER OMG. And best part? EVEN IF I hate what they do with the characters in FF6 I don't have to think it counts, because it's just Kingdom Hearts, but if I DO like it there'll probably be fanfic for a change! There is no LOSING here! Except that I'll have to play a Kingdom Hearts game. Ah well. I should pick the first KH back up for the sake of Squall-smiting. (Okay, think I fixed the HTML, still hate the web update thing. How do people USE that? Maybe they don't and that's why it sucks?)
